Update: Person Struck at Takoma Metro Dies; Rider Shares Experience

The red line is single tracking between Takoma and Silver Spring.

Update, 12:20 p.m.: As the Metro train pulled into the Takoma station it came to an abrupt halt, and less than a minute later the train's operator came over the intercom and announced that someone had just committed suicide by jumping in front off the train, Keith Johnson, a Columbia Heights resident who was in the second car of the train said.

The operator told all riders to move up to the front car and exit the train, Johnson said.

"It was a grisly scene even though you couldn't see the body," he said. "Firefighters had pick axes and there was police tape right down the middle of the platform."
