TAKOMA PARK, MD — Takoma Park Police collected 167 pounds of medications on the Drug Enforcement Administration's nationwide "Prescription Drug Take-Back Day" this past Saturday, acting chief Dan Frishkorn announced Monday. He said the large turn-out on Saturday was "very pleasing."

"This Nationwide Prescription Drug Take Back campaign is important as it gives the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs," a release from the police department said.

Residents looking to dispose excess and expired prescription and over-the-counter medications can always visit the safe and secure permanent drop off location at the City of Takoma Park Police Department at 7500 Maple Ave.
