TAKOMA PARK, MD — A Montgomery County police officer was injured by a hit-and-run driver while she conducted a traffic stop in Takoma Park Wednesday night, police said. The officer is identified as a 28-year-old woman who has about two-and-a-half years of experience with the Montgomery County Police Department. She was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.Investigation has revealed that another officer was conducting a traffic stop on southbound New Hampshire Avenue, south of Piney Branch Road at about 10:35 p.m. The female officer stopped to assist the fist officer and parked her police cruiser on the street. As she approached the stopped motorist, a driver traveling south on New Hampshire Avenue struck one of the police cruisers and seriously injured the female officer, police said.
