Police: Silver Spring Man Dies in Fatal Collision

The accident happened on Christmas night in Colesville.

A Silver Spring man passed away Christmas night in a fatal collision in Colesville after losing control of his vehicle.

Police responded to the area of Randolph Road at Hammonton Place around 9:36 p.m. on Thursday for the reported collision.

Preliminary investigation suggests Ronald Jerome Taylor, 46, was reportedly driving a 1996 Ford Mustang Cobra in the westbound lane of Randolph Road (towards Wheaton) when, for unknown reasons, he lost lost control of the car, crossed two lanes and struck a 2007 Ford Mustang traveling in the same direction, according to police. Police say the car then crossed back over the two lanes and struck the center median and trees before coming to a stop in the eastbound lanes of Randolph Road.

Fire Rescue attempted to save Taylor’s life upon arrival but could not. Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.

The driver of the 2007 Ford Mustang, Austin Lee Sexton, 29, of Laurel did not sustain any injuries.
