TAKOMA PARK, MD — The principal of Takoma Park Middle School sent a letter home to parents about an incident that required students to shelter in place for a short time Wednesday.

According to Principal Alicia Deeny, "an individual from the community was on school grounds and was asked to leave repeatedly by school security." Police were contacted when the suspect did not leave.

The suspect was initially uncooperative with police and school administration, which lead to the precautionary measure to call a shelter in place, Deeny said.
