Update: Shots Heard Near Lockney Avenue

A resident found 9mm casings in a parking lot in Lockney Avenue.

Update 1:30 a.m., Sept. 17: A resident found four 9mm Luger casings in a parking lot around 6:45 p.m. Friday in the 7900 block of Lockney Avenue, Takoma Park Police said.

Officers responded and checked the area further and found eight additional casings. Six were recovered from the parking lot and two froma  trash can located next to the lot, police said. The casings were collected and police are evaluating them.

Original Story: Takoma Park Police received 10 phone calls for shots fired around Lockney AVenue around 9:07 p.m. Wednesday night, but officers were unable to find any shooters or evidence of shots having been fired, police Spokeswoman Catherine Plevy said.

The complainants who called heard approximately eight shots. Takoma Park Police responded to the area and conducted a search of the area for approximately one hour, Plevy said.

Officers will continue to check the area for the remainder of the night in an effort to locate possible shooters, she said.
