Takoma Park Middle School Locked Down Wednesday; No Threat Found
Staff and students sheltered in place after the school received a threatening voicemail, according to officials.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Takoma Park Middle School was briefly locked down and searched by police Wednesday after receiving a possible threat by phone, Takoma Park police confirmed on Twitter.
According to a statement sent to families, the school received a threatening voicemail around 10 a.m., FOX 5 in Washington, D.C. reported. A shelter-in-place order was issued out of an abundance of caution, according to officials.
A shelter-in-place order means school programs continue; however, staff and students remain inside the building and all exterior doors are locked.

Police were called to the school and searched the building during the lockdown, authorities said. They found no active threat.
The lockdown was lifted shortly after 11:30 a.m., authorities said.
