Takoma Park Police File Warrants in Armed Robberies

Arrest warrants have been filed for Keith Reed, 22, and Andre Scott Nureni, 21, both of Washington, D.C.

Two arrest warrants were issued in relation to a Jan. 28 armed robbery in the area of Walnut Avenue and Westmoreland Avenue and a Feb. 3 armed robbery on Hodges Lane.

The warrants are for Keith Reed, 22, and Andre Scott Nureni, 21, both of Washington, D.C., for armed robbery, first degree assault, theft less than $100, reckless endangerment and conspiracy, Takoma Park Police said.

Reed and Nureni are both currently being held in the D.C. jail pending extradition back to Montgomery County, police said.

Around 10:09 p.m., Jan. 28, Takoma Park Police responded to the report of a citizen armed robbery. While walking, the victim was approached by one of the suspects who pointed a gun in the victim's face and demanded property, police said. The victim complied and the suspect fled on Walnut Avenue toward D.C. The victim did not suffer any physical injury.

Then on Feb. 3, around 8:45 a.m., Takoma Park Police responded to the 100 block of Hodges Lane for another report of an armed robbery. The victim was walking up the steps to his residence when a black male with a gun ordered the suspect to give him all his property. The victim complied and the suspect fled, police said. That victim did not suffer any injury either.

Through an investigation, police determined the suspect might have been driving a black Jeep Liberty.

At around 8:05 p.m., Metropolitan Police Department officers located the suspect Jeep Liberty in the 5000 block of 2nd Street, N.E., in D.C.  Officers observed an
unknown occupant get into the vehicle and then the officer broadcast a look-out for the vehicle, which was seen fleeing down Nicholson Street and 3rd Street, N.E., police said.

Several MPD units began the pursuit, during which the Jeep drove in the opposite direction on street, striking vehicles and objects, police said. The suspects then bailed from the vehicle.

A foot pursuit ensued and Reed was apprehended shortly after. Nureni was apprehended in the 4500 block of South Dakota Avenue, N.E. Nureni and Reed were both transported to the Fourth District Station.

A loaded Glock 19 handgun with rounds in the magazine were recovered where Reed was seen fleeing and where he ripped his jeans on the fence, police said.
