Takoma Park Police Officer Shoots Person In Gunfight
A Takoma Park Police officer wounded a suspect who first fired at the officer, authorities said.

TAKOMA PARK, MD — A Takoma Park Police officer shot and wounded a person who opened fire on the officer Wednesday night, a police statement said.
Police said someone shot at the officer and missed at about 7:30 p.m. The officer returned fire and struck the person once, according to a statement from police spokeswoman Catherine Plevy.
The person was taken to the hospital.

Takoma Park Police said Metropolitan Police Department will be the lead investigators in this shooting.
