Update: Burglaries Spike In August and September

Anyone with information should call Takoma Park Police.

Update 4:27 p.m.: On the heels of two burglaries yesterday, Takoma Park Police released information that burglaries in the city have spiked over in August and September. There have been 14 residential burglaries so far in August and September and the most common method of entry has been burglars breaking in through windows.

"We have increased marked and unmarked patrols in your neighborhoods," police said. "This is our number one priority."

Original Story: Two separate burglaries occurred Tuesday in Takoma Park, police said.

Takoma Park Police responded to the unit block of Jefferson Ave. for reports of a residential burglary.  Entry to the residence was made by smashing a window panel on a side door.  Property was taken, police said.

The same day, Takoma Park Police responded to the 300 block of Elm Avenue for reports of a residential burglary through an activated residential alarm.  Entry to the residence was made by smashing the rear door plate glass window.  Property was taken, police said.
