Lutherville Insurance Company Named Healthiest Employer

Lutherville-based has been named one of the healthiest employers in the state by the Baltimore Business Journal. 

Silberstein won best overall in the small (2-99 employees) category for implementing a number of health and well-being initiatives since 2007

“The nature of our business is caring for companies and their employees. We offer structured wellness programs to our clients and believe it is important to practice what we preach in our own office to ensure that SIG employees have the opportunity to live a healthy life both at home and at work,” wrote Richard Silberstein, president of SIG, in a release. 

Silberstein beat out other   Fitness Services, CFG Community Bank. 

The insurance company formed a staff wellness committee to help kick-start a few easy healthy-living projects. 

"Some examples include: staff sponsored “salad potluck” lunches; replacing company-provided candy and soda with healthier alternatives such as fruits, vegetables, and water; encouraging employees to take the stairs instead of the elevator; and offering onsite fitness classes and healthy cooking demonstrations," according to the release.
