"I said to my wife to be 'Hey, do you want to get married?' She hesitated for a minute, and said 'yes.' So I said, 'Well, I'll see if I can find somebody for you in the next six months.' Six months went by and I couldn't find anybody so, it had to be me. Poor girl! That was 27 years ago." — M. Sullivan on Timonium Patch
"I convinced my girlfriend's friends to get her to throw me a 'surprise' 30th birthday. It went off without a hitch. Except for one thing. The surprise was on her. I knew the date of the party, but wasn't sure where it was going to be or how she was going to attempt to pull it off. She decided to go with, 'let's go meet our friends at Italian Sensations' (on Belair Road and Ebenezer). When we walked in, I was able to see my uncle in the back but pretended that I didn't see him. When I walked to the back, everyone yelled surprise, and I got to use my 'you got me!' that I'd been practicing all week. Eventually, I gathered everyone to thank them for coming all the way out to celebrate my 30th, and that's when I flipped it on her. She was really, really confused, then happy... then slightly mad but got over it very quickly. Italian Sensations has a special place in our heart now. We're doing our engagement photos there. We'll be whipping up some pizzas that day... and the owner's birthday happens to be our wedding day. It was meant to be." — Greg on Perry Hall Patch
"I first started talking to Lauren when I was helping with our old high school baseball team. I cut my arm and she came to my aid and wiped up the blood even though I wanted to keep it as is and look manly and have blood dripping everywhere. After that though we hit it off and became best of friends. I left for college and we skyped all the time, when she graduated and came to the same college. Where I finally came to my senses and realized she was the love of my life. A year later we went out and I told her we were going to go star-gazing. We were celebrating our dating anniversary, and we went back to the baseball field and laid in the batting cages, I lit up a bunch of christmas lights to make the sky even more starry, but when we were about to leave I unplugged the lights on the top and plugged in the lights in the side which spelled out "Marry me?" (picture above) The lights lit up and she looked confused. She looked back at me and I was on my knee. I stumbled telling her how much she meant to me and how she was better then I could have ever dreamed. I asked her the ultimate question, she replied with a smile and one single word, 'yes.' And so on Dec. 15, 2012, Lauren made me the happiest man in the world!" — Jeremiah Hartman on Perry Hall Patch
"My husband of nearly seven years proposed to me in the kitchen of my childhood home in rural Iowa in front of my entire family. My dad filmed it, and my three younger brothers and mother were also there. It was simple and lovely and just what I wanted. Good luck to all the couples out there on this wonderful journey! I look forward to hearing more stories!" — Lisa Rossi on Arbutus Patch
"On our 10th anniversary...Yes...our 10th! Robert Day took me back to where we met. Our old neighborhood where we grew up. I was sitting on my old front steps...talking about how everything good or bad that ever happened in this world...I knew if I was within these four walls...everything was going to be ok. I looked down and saw him on his knee...asking me to be his wife. Of course I yelled yes...and he answered...'Good, now get in the car!' We grew up just three doors from each other on Orleans and Streeper streets in East Baltimore. Needless to say it's not the safest anymore...and this was almost 11 at night. We are eloping this summer...and I honestly feel as if the 10 years was worth the wait for that moment. For him to take me back to our old neighborhood...to my old steps...and give me yet another memory for that house...is just one of the many reasons I can't wait to be his wife." — BeverlyAnn Weiman on Dundalk Patch
"I was at Salon On The Hill getting my hair done when my then-boyfriend walked in with three roses. He said they were for the past, present and future. I said thank you and didn't think anything of it. When I was done we went down to Chesterwood Park and walked out on the pier. I heard him call my name and when I turned around he was on his knee with the ring in his hand. What a surprise! He said he was scared to death that he was going to drop the ring in the water. We have been married since 2005." —Kathy O'Connell-Martin on Dundalk Patch's Facebook page
