Solar and Wind Expo Returns to Timonium

The annual gathering will focus on electric vehicles in Maryland.

Organizers of the are sharpening the focus to electric powered vehicles for the third annual event, according to executive director George Lopez.

The expo runs Friday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. all three days at the Maryland State Fairgrounds.

The expo will feature keynote speaker John Davis, creator and producer of MotorWeek, followed by a roundtable discussion about Maryland’s electric car market.

“I like to think that we’re creating an impact across all types of renewable energy and energy efficiency,” Lopez said. “Demand drives the industry. By creating demand we’re helping to shape the industry and that’s why we’ve strived for so much education.”

Additionally, will be open throughout the expo for attendees interested in renewable energy.

“Folks can come out and learn all about all different types of electric conservation and methods and how to implement and wind turbines and geothermal to their lives,” Lopez.

Think City, the makers of electric plug-in micro-cars, will be offering their vehicles at a steep discount, according to Lopez.

“If somebody was interested in getting an electric vehicle this is the weekend to do it,” Lopez said. Think City will be selling cars for about $15,000, “which is probably like the cheapest electric vehicle you can buy right now,” Lopez continued.
