GALLERY: Semifinalists Selected for 'Voice of Baltimore' Contest

Bring on the semifinals!

Twenty-five of Baltimore’s most talented have been culled from a field of 50 to perform in annual Ed Block of Courage Award Foundation singing competition fundraiser at .

Seven Voice of Baltimore hopefuls performed Monday night at the Timonium restaurant/bar. Only one was sent home. (See photos)

The semifinals have been scheduled for July 9 and July 16. Top performers will compete in the Voice of Baltimore finals on July 23.

The winner will receive $500, a 5-day vacation in Ocean City, a 10-hour recording session and have the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at a Baltimore Orioles game.

“Padonia Station has done a great job of helping us and being a supporter of our foundation for a long time now,” Paul Mittermeier, director of communications for the Ed Block of Courage Award Foundation, said.

Proceeds from the two-month competition have benefitted the foundation for 11 years.

“This contest is really about reaching out the community, letting people come in and sing with all the proceeds going to a really good cause,” Mittermeier said.  

The independent news website VoiceOfBaltimore.org "proudly" lent its name to the competition, after Padonia Station was forced to drop the name "Baltimore Idol."
