3 Electric Bikes Donated To Towson Precinct

Police nationwide are using the bikes that were recently bought for Towson officers, the Baltimore County Police Department said.

The Towson Fourth of July Committee sponsored the donation of three electric bikes in Towson, officials said. They will enable faster response times in Central Towson, where there are more than 5 miles of bike lanes.

The Towson Precinct has just received three electric RADCity bicycles from the Towson Area Fourth of July Parade Committee. Donations were made to the Towson Area Fourth of July Committee from Towson Hot Bagels, Bread and Circuses Bistro and Barley’s Backyard, which were used to purchase the electric bicycles. The Towson Precinct Police and Community Relations Council was kind enough to purchase bicycle duty bags, helmets, locks and air pumps for each bicycle.

Electric bikes are being utilized nationwide by police departments, which allows officers to enhance the effectiveness of bike patrol and better serve our communities. They will also allow for quicker response times in Central Towson and enhance our community engagement. These electric bikes will be especially beneficial in Towson, as the Towson Loop has 3.5 miles of bike lanes and the Towson Spoke has 2.2 miles of bike lanes.

This donation would not have been possible without Nancy Hafford, the Director of the Towson Chamber of Commerce, the Towson Area Fourth of July Parade Committee and the businesses in the Towson area who continue to support and appreciate the officers of the Baltimore County Police Department.

The electric bicycles will be unveiled at the Opening Ceremony of the Towsontown Festival on Saturday, April 30th at noon.
