A Family Affair Children's Center

We have a full preschool program serving children ages two through five years old. We use creative curriculum which is a theme based, teacher created curriculum. We have a music teacher who comes once a week and we take several field trips a year. Our 2’s and 3’s Program In our 2’s and 3’s room we focus on helping children master self-care tasks such as toilet-training and using cups and forks as well as building social skills. We also lay the foundation for future academic learning with the basics such as the alphabet, colors, and basic math skills such as patterns and counting. Our 4’s and 5’s Program Our 4’s and 5’s program focuses on Kindergarten readiness. We cover all developmental areas including literacy, math concepts, science, social skills, music, and art all couched within a fun and interactive theme such as “Animals” or “The Beach.” Learning activities related to each of those topics are done throughout the week. Before and After School Care We provide before and after school care for children who attend Pine Grove or Harford Hills Elementary. We are open when schools are closed. We do a variety of indoor and outdoor activities such as: ○ Table games ○ Crafts ○ Legos ○ Outdoor play We also offer homework help, a morning and afternoon snack. Children are picked up and dropped off from the center by the BCPS bus system. Summer Camp We offer a school age summer camp for Kindergarten—5th graders. Baltimore Gas &amp; Electric has recruited approximately 2,000 out-of-state linemen and support workers to join "thousands" of the utilities company's employees to assist in restoring electric service following Hurricane Sandy, according to a news release. The crews are currently setting up at operation sites across the state, the release said. BGE officials say the workers will work "around-the-clock" to restore electic service following power outages as soon as it's safe to do so. The workers are arriving from Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas, officials said. On Friday, Jeannette M. Mills, BGE's vice president of customer operations and chief customer officer, urged customers to take a proactive approach and plan for anticipated outages caused by the storms in a letter to the editor.  Governor Martin O'Malley has declared a state of emergency in response to storm reports.
