The Arc Baltimore Honors Katy McGuire for Her Visionary Leadership
Award Recognizes Groundbreaking Initiatives to Support People with Developmental Disabilities

Katy McGuire, The Arc Baltimore’s Chief Advancement Officer for nearly 18 years, is the recipient of The Arc’s 2024 Award for Visionary Leadership.
Presented during The Arc Baltimore’s recent Annual Meeting and Awards Reception, the Visionary Leadership Award recognizes an individual whose groundbreaking initiatives have improved the lives of people with developmental disabilities whom The Arc supports.
“Katy’s expertise in fundraising merged seamlessly with her passion for our mission to support people with developmental disabilities to lead fulfilling lives with a sense of belonging, purpose, and meaningful relationships,” says Kathleen McNally Durkin, The Arc’s Chief Executive Officer. “Her greatest achievement is connecting people to our mission and making them care.”

McGuire, who retired from The Arc Baltimore earlier this year, spearheaded numerous initiatives, including the growth of The Arc’s largest and most anticipated annual event, Art in the Round, and the organization’s highly successful Golf Tournament. She also forged critical partnerships, leading to development of events like the Employers of Distinction, creation of the Board Ambassador Program, and expansion of The Arc’s Legacy Society.
McGuire’s dedication earned her numerous accolades, including the Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce’s Nonprofit Leadership Award, The Arc Maryland’s Outstanding Employee of the Year in Administration, and the Lorraine Sheehan-Bernard A. Gould Award for Volunteer Government Affairs Service.

The Arc Baltimore’s Annual Meeting and Awards Reception provides an opportunity for The Arc to recognize those individuals who have gone the extra mile in their service to the organization and those people with developmental disabilities who are recipients of The Arc’s programs and services. As in past years, the event featured numerous recognitions, as well as the election of The Arc Baltimore’s new board of directors and officers.
The Arc Baltimore supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, etc.) to lead fulfilling lives with a sense of belonging, purpose, and meaningful relationships. The Arc provides employment training and support, day and residential services, family support and education, treatment foster care, respite care, public policy advocacy, and information and referrals.
