Assistance Center Launches First 5K

The Assistance Center of Towson Churches announced its first 5K race, set for June.

The is seeking runners and sponsors for its first 5K race.

The , announced Wednesday, is scheduled for June 3 on the campus of . Registration is available on the organization's website.

The organization supports food aid and other assistance for needy residents in parts of Towson, North Baltimore, Pikesville, Parkville, Cockeysville and northern Baltimore County.

Suzanne Boellner, the vice president of resources for the group, said the organization needs money for services including rent and utility assistance, transportation and supplemental food supplies.

"That money all comes from donations, [but] when we run out of food, we have to take the money we would normally use for services like that," Boellner said.
