Aubrenda Ervin Honored by The Arc Baltimore

Award Recognizes Her Career Excellence as a Direct Support Professional

Aubrenda Ervin has been honored as the winner of The Arc Baltimore’s 2025 Award for Career Excellence in Direct Support.

Presented during The Arc Baltimore’s recent Catalyst for Change Awards Ceremony, the

Excellence in Direct Support Award recognizes a direct support professional who demonstrates general excellence in job performance, with a focus on technical knowledge of developmental disabilities and training techniques, reliability, good relationships with the people supported by The Arc Baltimore and co-workers, and dedication to advocacy and community partnerships.

“Quiet yet powerful, Aubrenda has been an unstoppable force supporting the ladies and gentlemen at two different homes, but always willing to help whomever and wherever needed,” says Kathleen McNally Durkin, The Arc Baltimore’s Chief Executive Officer. “Her positivity is infectious, and the people she supports adore her. Her energy is unmatched.”

Ervin began her career with The Arc Baltimore more than 30 years ago as a direct support professional in Community Living and Day Services. When The Arc’s day locations closed during the pandemic, she immediately stepped in to support people in their homes. She has devoted her life to The Arc’s mission and her deep respect for the people she supports embodies the spirit of the Career Excellence in Direct Support Award.

Kicking off The Arc Baltimore’s yearlong 75th anniversary celebration, The Catalyst for Change Awards allowed The Arc to recognize those individuals who have gone that extra mile in their commitment and service to the organization and those people with developmental disabilities who are recipients of The Arc’s programs and services.

The awards ceremony was preceded by The Arc Baltimore’s Annual Meeting, which included election of the 2025-26 Board officers and directors. Emceeing the evening’s festivities was former WMAR-TV 2 news anchor Jamie Costello, who with his wife Cheryl produce, shoot, write, and edit compelling video narratives through their company, CosTELLo YOUR STORY.

Since 1949, The Arc Baltimore has been supporting people with developmental disabilities to lead fulfilling lives with a sense of belonging, purpose, and meaningful relationships. With more than 800 full- and part-time employees, The Arc Baltimore provides employment training and support, day and residential services, family support and education, treatment foster care, assistive technology services, respite care, and public policy advocacy.
