Baltimore County Celebrates Police Memorial Day Online

Baltimore County Chief of Police Melissa Hyatt said the memorial video is not a substitute for the official memorial ceremony.

BALTIMORE, MD — Baltimore County Police Department was unable to gather on Friday to honor the county's fallen officers, as was originally planned, so it took to the internet instead.

In a video posted to the county's YouTube account, Melissa Hyatt, Baltimore County Chief of Police said the video tribute is not intended to substitute for the official memorial ceremony, but that the department did not want to let Police Memorial Day pass without commemorating fallen officers.

"While we honor the memory of these courageous officers every day in our hearts and in our actions, today we pause to pay tribute to each of them, recognizing their sacrifice and the impact of their lives," Hyatt said.
