Baltimore County School Board Chair Elected as Statewide Officer

Charles McDaniels Jr. will serve as treasurer for the Maryland Association of Boards of Education.

TOWSON, MD— The Maryland Association of Boards of Education inducted Charles McDaniels Jr., chair of the Board of Education of Baltimore County, as its treasurer during the MABE Annual Conference on Wednesday, October 5. McDaniels was elected to serve for the 2016-2017 year as one of MABE’s four officers on its board of directors.

“Our students are fortunate to benefit from Chuck McDaniels’ leadership not only at the county level, but now at the state level as well,” said Superintendent Dr. S. Dallas Dance.

A lifelong Marylander, McDaniels was appointed to the Baltimore County school board in 2011 to represent the Fourth Council District. He previously served as Board vice chair. McDaniels became a steel sales and technical consultant after completing a 33-year career as a metallurgical engineer and sales/marketing manager. His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University and a master’s degree in business administration from Loyola University of Maryland.

Founded in 1957, the Maryland Association of Boards of Education is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to serving and supporting boards of education in Maryland. MABE is a leading advocate for public education in the state. All 24 Maryland boards of education are members of MABE.
