A barn fire killed horses and injured people in Westminster, officials said. The blaze caused $250,000 in damage.

WESTMINSTER, MD — Four horses died, and three people were hurt in a Sunday barn fire in Carroll County, officials said.
Investigators said the fire caused $250,000 in damage to the large brick and timber structure.
First responders said they were called to the unit block of Bell Road in Westminster around 12:59 p.m.

Crews said they treated two people on the scene, but they refused to go to the hospital.
Officials said a man, 25, was taken to Carroll Hospital Center for treatment of a first-degree burn to his right hand.

Sixty-five firefighters responded to the one-alarm blaze, controlling the flames in 120 minutes, a press release said.
There were no smoke alarms or sprinklers in the barn, investigators said, noting that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Officials said the fire started inside the barn.
The Westminster Volunteer Fire Department was the primary responding company.
