BGE Anticipating Several Hundred Thousand Power Outages

Officials from the utilities company announced Saturday that the outages may last several days.

Baltimore Gas and Electric officials announced Saturday that several hundred thousand outages are expected as a result of Hurricane Sandy.

The outages could last several days, according to a news release from the utilities company.

About 1,300 of the recruited are scheduled to arrive Sunday, ahead of the storms, the release said. The remainder is expected to arrive throughout the week. The workers are setting up at bases across the state including BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport, M&T Bank Stadium, Timonium Fairgrounds and Ripken Stadium.

ComEd, BGE's sister company based in Chicago, is also assisting with preparation and restoration efforts.

BGE officials urge residents to call 1-877-778-2222 to report outages or downed wires.
