Singer Etheridge Surprises Trick-or-Treaters At Delegate's Home
Del. Heather Mizuer brings in star power for Halloween and the same-sex marriage referendum as she eyes a run for governor.

Most of the superheroes and princesses and soldiers probably paid little attention to the woman handing out candy at Del. Heather Mizeur's home on Halloween.
But for those who did, the treat was not only candy but an autograph and a photo with singer Melissa Etheridge.
Mizuer, a Takoma Park Democrat, posted about the evening on her Facebook page.

"Not exactly a traditional Halloween at the Mizeur's this year," Mizeur wrote on her Facebook page. "My wife is wearing her tutu like the princess that she is. For most of the night, the kids had no clue that Melissa Etheridge was passing out their candy. Then a group of teenagers came and one screams out, "Are you Melissa Etheridge?!?!" And I've never seen a more excited porch full of teen girls getting photos and autographs. Their moms were pretty psyched, too. Super fun. Hope you all got more treats than tricks tonight."
Mizuer, one of eight openly lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender legislators in Maryland, described Etheridge as "a very dear friend of ours."

"She's visiting with us while she is in town on her tour," Mizeur wrote in a message to a reporter. "She has a show at the Strathmore in Bethesda on Friday night. She helped us raise money for Marylanders for Marriage Equality by raffling six tickets to the concert and a chance to meet her backstage before the show."
In addition to being active in the effort to pass Maryland Question 6 this year, Mizeur is rumored to be considering a run for governor in 2014.
