Closing Macy's Site Sold To Baltimore County With Plans For Development: Report
The Macy's building closing at Security Square was sold to Baltimore County, a report said. Transit-oriented development is planned.

WINDSOR MILL, MD — The Baltimore County government bought the shuttering Macy's building at Security Square Mall with plans to convert the property into a transit-oriented development, WMAR reported Friday.
Macy's on Thursday announced the looming closures of its department stores at Security Square Mall in Windsor Mill and Harford Mall in Bel Air.
WMAR said Baltimore County in June 2024 negotiated to buy the Macy's and some adjacent pad sites for $6.5 million. The county now owns 39 acres of the 88-acre mall site, WMAR reported.
