A Family Affair Children's Center

We have a full preschool program serving children ages two through five years old. We use creative curriculum which is a theme based, teacher created curriculum. We have a music teacher who comes once a week and we take several field trips a year. Our 2’s and 3’s Program In our 2’s and 3’s room we focus on helping children master self-care tasks such as toilet-training and using cups and forks as well as building social skills. We also lay the foundation for future academic learning with the basics such as the alphabet, colors, and basic math skills such as patterns and counting. Our 4’s and 5’s Program Our 4’s and 5’s program focuses on Kindergarten readiness. We cover all developmental areas including literacy, math concepts, science, social skills, music, and art all couched within a fun and interactive theme such as “Animals” or “The Beach.” Learning activities related to each of those topics are done throughout the week. Before and After School Care We provide before and after school care for children who attend Pine Grove or Harford Hills Elementary. We are open when schools are closed. We do a variety of indoor and outdoor activities such as: ○ Table games ○ Crafts ○ Legos ○ Outdoor play We also offer homework help, a morning and afternoon snack. Children are picked up and dropped off from the center by the BCPS bus system. Summer Camp We offer a school age summer camp for Kindergarten—5th graders. The <a href="http://www.aft.org" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">American Federation of Teachers</a> named a Baltimore County corrections officer one of its national "<a href="http://www.aft.org/everydayheroes" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Everyday Heroes,"</a> the organization announced Thursday. Michael Morris won the "Everyday Hero" award for the public employee division. Five other awards were handed out in categories including teaching and health care. Morris and the other five winners will be honored at an AFT convention in Detroit this July. Morris works at the in Towson and serves as vice president of the <a href="http://md.aft.org/bcfpe/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Baltimore County Federation of Public Employees</a>. He is also a sergeant in the Maryland National Guard and a volunteer fire fighter and medic with the Rosedale and English Counsul volunteer fire companies. Morris has also spent three tours of duty in Iraq. Morris' union nominated him for the award. The AFT selected 27 semifinalists across the six categories, then recieved nearly 15,000 online votes to select the winners. "Michael Morris is the very definition of an everyday hero," County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said in a statement. "Extraordinary people like him enrich our entire community not simply through their deeds, which have a huge impact, but through their example."
