County Hosts Biometric Screenings for Employees

Employees will be able to get free screenings at two more clinics.

Though County Executive Kevin Kamenetz's medical records are between him and his doctor, he wants you to know he is, in fact, human.

"To all those who wanted to know, I do have blood in my veins," Kamenetz said as a staffer pricked his finger.

Kamenetz was first in line at the county's public safety building on Wednesday morning for a questionnare, blood test and exam that measures glucose, cholesterol, body mass index and body composition.

The screening is the first of three free clinics the county and insurance provider Cigna are holding for county employees. Two more will be held Thursday and on May 17 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the county office building at 111 W. Chesapeake Ave.

Per federal law, the county will not recieve any information from the screenings and can't use it to penalize employees based on their results, spokeswoman Ellen Kobler said.
