Crash Closes I-695 Near Loch Raven Boulevard: Officials

A crash involving fire and a person trapped closed the inner loop of I-695 on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A crash on Interstate 695 has closed down one side of the Baltimore Beltway Wednesday afternoon near Towson, officials say.

The crash occurred before 1 p.m. on I-695 prior to the exit for Loch Raven Boulevard, according to state transportation officials.

A vehicle was on fire with one person trapped near the exit for Cromwell Bridge Road, according to the Providence Volunteer Fire Company, which was at the scene of the crash.

As a result of the incident, the inner loop of I-695 was closed to traffic.

Around 1:25 p.m., officials began directing vehicles to the left shoulder to get by the crash.

By 2:30 p.m., firefighters reported the blaze was out and the person who had been trapped was freed and being evaluated by paramedics.
