Towson to Light Downtown Christmas Tree Friday

The event will also mark the start of Winterfest 2013.

Towson is scheduled to kick off its holiday celebrations with the annual lighting of its Christmas tree downtown later this month.

The tree lighting, which has been a tradition for 40 years, is set for 6 p.m., Friday at Olympic Park near Towson circle, according to a news release from the Towson Chamber of Commerce.

Santa will also be arriving by fire engine and officially opening his workshop.

Ho Ho Happy Hours: 5 p.m., Dec. 5., Dec. 12 and Dec. 19. Participating bars will be offering deals on drinks and food.

Breakfast with the Grinch: 7 to 9 a.m., Dec. 7, at Souris’, 537 York Road. Children and adults alike can enjoy breakfast with the famous Dr. Seuss character for $5 ad $10 respectively. 

Holiday Movie and Santa’s Workshop: 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Dec. 7, 1 E. Joppa Road. Children can build gifts and the watch the film “The Grinch.”

Fire and Ice Night/Christmas Tree Judging: 6 to 9 p.m., Dec. 13, downtown Towson.  Take a look at the ice sculptures around town, street performers, free roasted chestnuts and Christmas tree judging.

Street Performers: 6 to 9 p.m., Dec. 13, downtown Towson. Street performers will be entertaining customers as they shop at downtown businesses.  

Breakfast with Frosty: 9 a.m., Dec. 14, Charles Village Pub, 19 W. Pennsylvania Ave. Children and adults can enjoy breakfast with Frosty for $5 and $10 respectively.

Holiday Movie and Santa’s Workshop: 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Dec. 14, 1 E. Joppa Road/Towson Circle. Children can build gifts with Beau and Tinsel, the talking reindeer, and then watch the film “The Grinch.”

Men’s Shopping Night: 5 p.m., Dec. 19, downtown Towson. Stores are offering specials and promotions to help men select a gift, and Souris’ is offering free wrapping.
