One Child Killed, Another Hurt in Four-Car Crash on JFX

(Update: 10 p.m.)—Police identified the boy as Jake Owen, the Baltimore Sun reports.

(Update: 5:37 p.m.)—WBAL-TV reports a 5-year-old boy was killed in the crash.

(Update 3:58 p.m.)—WBAL-TV reports lanes on I-83 North could be closed for "several hours." The State Highway Administration reports via Twitter that the right lane of the JFX is moving.

Two children are being flown to a hospital following a four-car crash on northbound Interstate 83, according to Maryland State Police.

The children, 5 and 9, sustained unspecified injuries and both were flown to Johns Hopkins Children's Center. Police had no information on other injuries in the crash.

The accident occurred around 2:40 p.m., north of Ruxton Road on the ramp from the Jones Falls Expressway to the Inner Loop of Interstate 695. All lanes of the JFX are shut down, as of 3:20 p.m.

Further information, including on any other people involved in the accident, was not immediately available.
