Nancy G. Heller Lecture—Amalie Rothschild: Quiet Feminist

From Towson University: Dr. Heller will discuss how artist Amalie Rothschild managed to fulfill her numerous, seemingly contradictory roles—as a full-time wife and mother in mid-20th-century Baltimore, a pioneering art therapist, a passionate activist on behalf of artists' rights, an important patron of the arts, and a prolific, fearlessly experimental artist in her own right who produced work in many different media, techniques and styles, over six and a half decades. Dr. Heller is Professor of Modern and Contemporary Art History at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

The talk is part of an exhibit of Rothschild's works, which opens April 19 and runs through June 15.
