Fallen Baltimore Firefighters' Funeral Procession Ends In County

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — The funeral procession for three Baltimore City firefighters ended Wednesday afternoon following a two-hour memorial service at the convention center downtown.

Fire trucks, police cars, motorcycles and other vehicles were part of the procession to honor Lt. Paul Butrim, Lt. Kelsey Sadler, and Firefighter/Paramedic Kenneth Lacayo.

When the procession passed by the Baltimore Police Department headquarters off Fayette Street, officers gave a salute:

Drivers in downtown Baltimore and those taking I-83 and I-695 were advised to expect delays during the procession.

The procession traveled from the Baltimore Convention Center on Pratt Street to Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens on East Padonia Road, where the fallen firefighters were memorialized in a section of the cemetery called the Fallen Heroes garden, set aside for first responders. There was a mass presentation of the colors.

Vehicles had arrived at the exit onto Padonia Road by about 2:30 p.m., according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

The ramp from the outer loop of I-695 to I-83 north was closed for the funeral procession from about 2:20 to 2:50 p.m., according to the Maryland State Highway Administration.
