Flood Watch Issued For Baltimore County

Baltimore County may get heavy rain on Wednesday that could lead to flooding and flash flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Thunderstorms coupled with a warm air mass could lead to heavy rain and possibly flooding Wednesday afternoon and evening, according to forecasters.

The National Weather Service placed much of the Baltimore-Washington region under a flood watch, including Baltimore County, advising those in flood-prone areas to be on alert.

The flood watch runs from 3 to 11 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22.

During this period, 1 to 3 inches of rain may fall in a matter of hours, forecasters said.

Flash flooding may be possible, according to the National Weather Service, which said that runoff could flood rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

  • Allegany County
  • Baltimore City
  • Baltimore County
  • Frederick County
  • Howard County
  • Montgomery County
  • Prince George's County

Portions of Virginia, D.C. and West Virginia are also included in the watch.

Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. East wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Cloudy, with a low around 64. East wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11 a.m. Cloudy, with a high near 72. East wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 61. Light north wind.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. North wind around 5 mph.

Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 64.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 86.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 67.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 88.

Sunday night: Showers likely, mainly after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
