Mom Fatally Stabbed In Baltimore County, Fundraiser Supporting Her Kids
A mother was fatally stabbed in Baltimore County. A fundraiser has collected thousands for her children.
MONKTON, MD — A fundraiser for the children of a woman who was fatally stabbed recently in Monkton has collected over $65,000.
The effort is supporting the son and daughter of 56-year-old Kimberly Lechner, who died on Sept. 29.
Police charged the victim's husband, 55-year-old Anthony Lechner, with first-degree murder. Officers accused him of attacking his wife inside the house they shared. Multiple reports said the suspect must undergo a mental competency evaluation because he told police he has no recollection of the incident.

"She discovered immense joy in guiding toddlers through their first experiences with learning and discovery," said her obituary. "Her gentle spirit, endless patience, warm smile, and infectious laughter touched the lives of countless children and families in Monkton."
Friend and neighbor Christie Roberts launched the GoFundMe on Oct. 2.
"[Kimberly Lechner] was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, teacher, and friend whose love and light touched everyone she met," Roberts said. "Most of all, she was the proud and fierce mama bear to her two beautiful children, who were the center of her world."
The fundraiser had collected $67,821 from 487 donors by Monday at 3:30 p.m. The goal is $75,000.
"As we grieve this heartbreaking loss, we are rallying together to support her children as they face life without their beloved mom," Roberts said. "The funds raised will go directly toward their care, education, and future needs, ensuring they are surrounded by the same love, stability, and opportunities that Kim worked so hard to provide."
