Gravel Spills Off Truck On Beltway, Prompts 9-Mile Delay
Major backups on Interstate 695 were reported Tuesday morning after a spill.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — After a truck lost a load of gravel on Interstate 695, multiple lanes were closed, and delays persisted for hours during the morning rush.
The debris fell on the outer loop before the exit for the Jones Falls Expressway around 6 a.m., according to state transportation officials.
Traffic was backed up for 9 miles on I-695 before the I-83 exit, the Maryland State Highway Administration reported after 7 a.m. Tuesday.

The center lanes were expected to be closed until about 9 a.m., officials said.
By 10 a.m., the State Highway Administration reported all lanes were open.
