Hogan Vs Alsobrooks, Trone: Take Patch's Survey For MD Senate Race

Former Gov. Larry Hogan (R) is running for Senate against two big-name Democrats. Who will you vote for? Take Patch's MD election survey.

MARYLAND — Maryland's election for U.S. Senator is heating up, with more than a dozen candidates hoping to replace retiring Democratic Sen. Ben Cardin.

The candidates leading in polls include:

  • Former Gov. Larry Hogan (R)
  • Prince George's County Executive Angela Alsobrooks (D)
  • U.S. Rep. David Trone (D-MD District 6)

Hogan's decision to run for Senate gives Republicans a prominent candidate and positions the GOP to run a competitive campaign in a state that hasn't had a Republican U.S. senator in 37 years.

During Hogan's tenure as governor, he was one of the rare Republicans willing to criticize former president and 2024 GOP nominee Donald Trump. In January, Hogan stepped down from the leadership of the third-party movement No Labels.
