A Family Affair Children's Center

We have a full preschool program serving children ages two through five years old. We use creative curriculum which is a theme based, teacher created curriculum. We have a music teacher who comes once a week and we take several field trips a year. Our 2’s and 3’s Program In our 2’s and 3’s room we focus on helping children master self-care tasks such as toilet-training and using cups and forks as well as building social skills. We also lay the foundation for future academic learning with the basics such as the alphabet, colors, and basic math skills such as patterns and counting. Our 4’s and 5’s Program Our 4’s and 5’s program focuses on Kindergarten readiness. We cover all developmental areas including literacy, math concepts, science, social skills, music, and art all couched within a fun and interactive theme such as “Animals” or “The Beach.” Learning activities related to each of those topics are done throughout the week. Before and After School Care We provide before and after school care for children who attend Pine Grove or Harford Hills Elementary. We are open when schools are closed. We do a variety of indoor and outdoor activities such as: ○ Table games ○ Crafts ○ Legos ○ Outdoor play We also offer homework help, a morning and afternoon snack. Children are picked up and dropped off from the center by the BCPS bus system. Summer Camp We offer a school age summer camp for Kindergarten—5th graders. A Chevy Chase man is serving his 23-year sentence for murder in western Virginia. <a href="http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2012/10/23/george-huguely-serving-time-in-western-part-of-va/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">As first reported by the AP</a>, George Huguely V is one of about 900 inmates at Keen Mountain Correctional Center, a high security prison in Oakwood, according to the Virginia Department of Corrections website. His projected release date is May 30, 2030. In February, Huguely was convicted in the May 2010 murder of his ex-girlfriend Yeardley Love, a Cockeysville native who graduated from Notre Dame Preparatory School in Towson. Love was found dead in her off-campus Charlottesville apartment. Huguely and Love were both lacrosse players at the University of Virginia. Notre Dame recently dedicated a turf field in Love's honor. Her mother and sister recently opened up about the former couple's turbulent relationship on Katie, a syndicated talk show hosted by Katie Couric. Huguely's attorneys are in the process of appealing his conviction.
