Huguely Serving Sentence in Western Virginia

The former University of Virginia lacrosse player was convicted in the murder of his ex-girlfriend Yeardley Love, a Cockeysville native.

A Chevy Chase man is serving his 23-year sentence for murder in western Virginia.

As first reported by the AP, George Huguely V is one of about 900 inmates at Keen Mountain Correctional Center, a high security prison in Oakwood, according to the Virginia Department of Corrections website. His projected release date is May 30, 2030.

In February, Huguely was convicted in the May 2010 murder of his ex-girlfriend Yeardley Love, a Cockeysville native who graduated from Notre Dame Preparatory School in Towson. Love was found dead in her off-campus Charlottesville apartment.

Huguely and Love were both lacrosse players at the University of Virginia.

Notre Dame recently dedicated a turf field in Love's honor. Her mother and sister recently opened up about the former couple's turbulent relationship on Katie, a syndicated talk show hosted by Katie Couric.
