Man May Have Attempted Break-In to Send 'Message' to Couple

The incident happened early last Monday.

Police are looking for suspects in an unusual attempted break-in last Monday, where two women may have been targeted for being a same-sex couple.

A female resident of a home in the 6300 block of Pinehurst Road answered a knock at the door around 8:30 a.m. on March 5, and found a man there, according to Baltimore County police spokeswoman Detective Cathleen Batton. Two women live in the home in the Pinehurst neighborhood with a 3-year-old son.

The man tried to slide his foot in the door, the woman closed the door and the man turned to leave.

The resident went to get her son and leave the home when she saw a woman wearing a badge and nametag who told her, "We got this guy," according to Batton.

The woman with the badge told the resident that the man had wanted to send "the lesbians a message," according to a police incident summary.

Batton said the police do not know the identity of the woman with the badge, nor is it clear whether the woman identified herself as a law enforcement officer.

The resident left the home and contacted her partner. The next day, they called police about the incident, Batton said. Police are still investigating. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Baltimore County police at 410-307-2020.
