Man Fatally Shot at Towson Town Center

UPDATE (10 p.m.)—Baltimore County police have no suspects after a man was shot and killed outside  Monday evening, during the height of the holiday shopping rush.

Police responding to a call for a shooting outside the Nordstrom department store at around 6:20 p.m. Monday arrived to find the victim dead on the sidewalk near the mall's Fairmount Avenue entrance, near the 

All Towson precinct officers, and officers from other precincts, were called to the scene. Police and mall security went inside the mall and began "looking for someone who looked panicked or suspicious," said police spokeswoman Elise Armacost.

Armacost said the victim was a black adult male but that he had not yet been identified. She said she could not comment on where, or how many times the victim was shot. Armacost said that no one saw the shooting.

"We're not sure what we're looking for right now. We don't have any suspects," Armacost told reporters.

Anyone with information is asked to call Baltimore County police.

Armacost was not sure if any security cameras in the area captured the incident, but said such footage "would certainly be looked at by investigators."

Many security cameras have been added to the mall since 2005. That February, William Bassett, a Roland Park resident and teacher at the St. Paul's School in Brooklandville, was shot and killed in an attempted robbery.

Armacost declined to comment on whether there would be an increased police presence at the mall in coming days and deferred to mall management about whether shoppers would see an increased mall security presence.
