Maryland Weather Forecast: Cold Week, Warming Up Toward Christmas

We'll spend Monday with wind chills below freezing, followed by a few cold mornings at the bus stop. But we'll slowly warm up this week, with the warmest day in the forecast on Christmas Day, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.

It'll be a windy, cold night Sunday, with gusts as high as 21 mph under mostly cloudy skies. Monday morning's wind chill -- or the "feels like" temperature -- will be 16 degrees, and won't climb above 30 degrees all day.

Actual temperatures Tuesday morning will be at 19 degrees, but we'll warm toward 40 by Tuesday afternoon. Mornings will stay cold, but daytime temperatures will be heading toward 50 degrees as we get closer to Christmas.

The best chance for showers will be Thursday, according to forecasters.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 34. North wind 6 to 8 mph.

• Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 19. Northeast wind 3 to 5 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 38. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon.

• Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 25.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 45.

• Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 30.

Thursday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

• Thursday Night: A chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 43.

• Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 29.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 46.

• Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33.

Christmas Day: Partly sunny, with a high near 48.
