Marylanders Head To These 3 Spots To Get Their 'Fall Fix': Survey

A recent survey asked just over 3,000 respondents where residents of their state prefer to get their true "fall fix." Here's what MD said.

Autumn is in full swing in Maryland, and whether it's an apple orchard, a leaf-peeping trip or strolling through a pumpkin patch, residents all have a favorite way — and a favorite place — to get their fall fix.

A recent survey conducted by Gunther Volkswagen in Delray Beach, Florida, asked just over 3,000 respondents where residents of their state prefer to get their true “fall fix.”

"Pumpkin spice isn’t just a flavor - it’s shorthand for all the cozy, seasonal stops that make an autumn drive feel complete," the survey authors wrote. "From coffee shops to cideries, bakeries to roadside cafés, the question is: when cravings hit, do Maryland locals stick with familiar national chains or seek out local gems along the way?"

It turns out Marylanders like to keep it local, according to the survey.

The No. 1 place Marylanders go to get their fall fix is Weber’s Cider Mill Farm, located at 2526 Proctor Ln. in Parkville, Baltimore County.

"Weber’s takes on a festival atmosphere once autumn arrives. The orchards hum with families, the air carries that mix of cider and spice, and there’s an unhurried rhythm to the whole visit," the survey authors wrote. "It’s less about what you bring home and more about the mood — crisp air, golden light, and the sense that the season has truly settled in."

Coming in at No. 2 was Ceremony Coffee Roasters, which has multiple locations in cities including Annapolis, Baltimore and Bethesda.

"Ceremony has a clean, modern feel that softens into something warmer once the season shifts. The chatter of regulars, the glow of light on cooler mornings and the steady rhythm of espresso machines all add up to a space that feels made for fall," the survey authors wrote. "A mug here isn’t just a drink — it’s a little pause in the day, a ritual that matches the slower pace of autumn."

Finally, Marylanders head to Heavy Seas Beer in Halethorpe for their fall fix.

"Heavy Seas feels especially inviting once the evenings grow cool. Long tables, steady chatter, and pints poured with a seasonal edge all create an atmosphere that encourages lingering," the survey authors wrote. "It’s not just about the beer — it’s about the warmth of the space and the sense of celebration that autumn seems to bring with it."

The full list of favorite fall spots can be found online.

“As much as pumpkin spice and cider define fall, it’s really the journey that ties it all together,” said Joseph Gunther IV of Gunther Volkswagen. “Whether you’re pulling off at a favorite café or making a detour to a pumpkin patch, those stops become part of the drive itself. Fall isn’t just about where you end up - it’s about enjoying every mile along the way.”
