Mummies Coming to Maryland Science Center

Have you ever wondered what a mummy looks like?

You could get your chance Saturday Sept.  28 at the Maryland Science Center, 601 Light St., in Baltimore, when the Mummies of the World Exhibition will be opening.

According to a press release, this will be the largest collection of human and animal mummies ever assembled.

The exhibition has mummies and artifacts dating back 6,500 years, according to the Maryland Science Center.

“When people come to Mummies of the World, they are going to see real mummies, real people,” said Marc Corwin, CEO of American Exhibitions, Inc., on an exhibition video profiling the project. “When you look at these mummies, you realize they lived real lives just like you and I – they are real people. You will connect with them in a way you can’t imagine."

Also, a curator for the project said that the exhibition includes:

-       Egyptian wrapped mummies

-       A 500-year-old dog that is still brown and fluffy

-       A 17th-century baron that’s wearing brand new boots that were put on him at the time of his death

-       A 6,004-year-old child that’s so well preserved you can see the child had a heart condition and lung infection

Tickets prices range from $19.75 to 25.75 and can be purchased here. 

The exhibit runs from Sept. 28 to Jan. 19, 2014 in Baltimore.
