New Towson Y Groundbreaking Ceremony Scheduled For December

The Towson Family Center Y began redevelopment efforts in late October.

After a tumultuous start, Towson Family Center Y will celebrate the construction of its new facility at a groundbreaking ceremony in December.

The Y had initially faced opposition from community members who were concerned about the building's height and lighting. The design plan was tweaked to address their concerns.

On Dec. 5, the Y will host the ceremony and launch a community campaign starting at 9 a.m. on its campus at 600 W. Chesapeake Avenue, according to the center's website.
