A New Year's Eve stabbing killed a woman during a domestic dispute in Baltimore County. Police identified the victim and the suspect.

In a fatal domestic stabbing on New Year's Eve in Pikesville, the Baltimore County Police Department on Thursday identified the victim as 57-year-old Melanie Fried and the suspect as 21-year-old Xander Fried.

PIKESVILLE, MD — Police on Thursday identified the victim and the suspect in a fatal domestic stabbing on New Year's Eve in Pikesville.

Officers said the victim was 57-year-old Melanie Fried and the suspect is 21-year-old Xander Fried.

Authorities said they charged Xander Fried with first-degree murder. He is being held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

Police said they were called to a home in the 100 block of Brightside Avenue around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers said the call initially came out as "a domestic dispute between a family member and the homeowner."

Authorities said they found the victim inside the home and she was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Baltimore County Police Department said it took the suspect into custody on the day of the stabbing.
