Update: Local Doctor Struck By SUV Suffers Serious Injuries

The accident was reported near N. Charles Street and Chestnut Avenue in Towson Thursday morning.

A Lutherville doctor was severly injured after he was struck by an SUV in Towson Thursday morning.

Early investigation showed that Dr. Ted Houk, 50, of the 1700 block of Kurtz Avenue, was jogging southbound on N. Charles Street when he was struck by a northbound 2005 Toyota Rav4 driven by a 65-year-old woman, Baltimore County police said. The woman had her turn signal on to indicate her intention to turn onto Chestnut Lane.

Police said Houk jogged into the traffic lane, in front of the vehicle, as the woman passed Boyce Avenue.

The driver remained at the scene, and police are still investigating the accident.

No charges had been filed as of Thursday afternoon.

Houk is locally well-known for his daily runs from his Lutherville home to work—either at his Towson private practice or at Greater Baltimore Medical Center.
