A Family Affair Children's Center

We have a full preschool program serving children ages two through five years old. We use creative curriculum which is a theme based, teacher created curriculum. We have a music teacher who comes once a week and we take several field trips a year. Our 2’s and 3’s Program In our 2’s and 3’s room we focus on helping children master self-care tasks such as toilet-training and using cups and forks as well as building social skills. We also lay the foundation for future academic learning with the basics such as the alphabet, colors, and basic math skills such as patterns and counting. Our 4’s and 5’s Program Our 4’s and 5’s program focuses on Kindergarten readiness. We cover all developmental areas including literacy, math concepts, science, social skills, music, and art all couched within a fun and interactive theme such as “Animals” or “The Beach.” Learning activities related to each of those topics are done throughout the week. Before and After School Care We provide before and after school care for children who attend Pine Grove or Harford Hills Elementary. We are open when schools are closed. We do a variety of indoor and outdoor activities such as: ○ Table games ○ Crafts ○ Legos ○ Outdoor play We also offer homework help, a morning and afternoon snack. Children are picked up and dropped off from the center by the BCPS bus system. Summer Camp We offer a school age summer camp for Kindergarten—5th graders. On Tuesday, players Ray Rice, Brendan Ayanbadejo, Vonta Leach, Gino Gradkowski, James Ihedigbo, Bryant McKinnie and representatives from the National Football League recognized Stoneleigh Elementary School as one of 34 <a href="http://www.nflrush.com/play60" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">"Play 60" Super Schools</a> nationwide. The players also discussed the importance of exercising for 60 minutes a day and eating well. "Drink a little milk if you want to grow taller than me," joked Rice, who stands at 5 foot, 8 inches, according to the <a href="http://www.baltimoreravens.com/team/roster/Ray-Rice/9d941a20-0c76-412d-85fd-165a029d59e6" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Baltimore Ravens team roster. </a> Rice stunned football audiences during a Sunday game where he made a conversion on fourth-and-29. The play inspired the ditty "hey diddle diddle, Ray Rice down the middle." As a "Play 60" school, Stoneleigh will benefit from a $10,000 grant to promote health and wellness initiatives. The check was presented to Debbie Phelps, director of The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools and the mother of Olympian Michael Phelps. Following the check presentation, the players helped one physical education class get in 60 minutes of exercise. All equipment used will be donated to the school.
