Policeman Shot In Towson: Suspect Killed, 2 Injured, Officials Said
An officer was shot by an armed person leaving an apartment in Towson on Saturday night, according to police.

TOWSON, MD — One person is dead and two others are hospitalized after a shooting in Towson Saturday night, according to police. A policeman was among those shot and injured, authorities said. The attorney general’s office is handling the investigation.
At 8:40 p.m., police said they responded to the 400 block of Virginia Avenue for a call about unknown trouble.
When they arrived, officers said they heard gunfire and went to investigate the source of the gunshots. They found an armed person leaving an apartment, who fired at police, injuring one, officials said.

Officers returned fire and killed the suspect, who has not been identified by police.
Inside the apartment, officers said they found a person who had been shot. The victim was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

"I have visited the officer in the hospital, and have thankfully been told he should expect a full recovery," Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski Jr. said in a statement Sunday morning. He said the shooting was "another reminder of how our first responders courageously put themselves in danger every day, running into unknown situations to protect the community."
The Maryland attorney general's office was called to investigate the death in accordance with a state law passed in October 2021 mandating it handle all police-involved fatalities.
