Providence Volunteer Fire Company Collecting Donations For Sandy Victims

The Towson fire company is assisting the New Jersey Volunteer Firemen's Association to help families in need.

For more than 60 years, the Providence Volunteer Fire Company has spread Christmas joy by taking Santa around Towson on a fire truck. Now, the fire company wants to extend the cheer to New Jersey communities ravaged by Superstorm Sandy.

The company is asking Towson residents to donate lightly used or new toys and clothing for Sandy relief to their station, at 1416 Providence Road, until Dec. 15, according to an email from Garrett Zour, a 45-year member of the fire company. The items can be placed in containers located in the rear of the station.

The donations will be delivered to the New Jersey Volunteer Firemen's Association the week of Dec. 17 to distribute to families in need, according to the email.
