Report Of Possibly Armed Person Near Towson Unfounded: Officials

Breaking: For the second time in three days, Towson University was on alert about a possibly armed person.

TOWSON, MD — A report of a potentially armed person near Towson put the campus on alert midday Wednesday. It was the second time in three days that public safety officials had asked the community to be on the lookout for someone who may be armed and dangerous.

Towson University's Office of Public Safety emailed community members about a possibly armed person who was off campus Wednesday, officials said.

Officials said the person was near Sheppard Pratt around 1:45 p.m., prompting authorities to put neighboring University Villages on alert, according to The Towerlight.

The report was deemed "unfounded by Baltimore County Police," university officials reported before 2:30 p.m.

"There is no ongoing threat to campus," Towson University said in a statement.

On Monday night, the Towson University campus was on alert as well after police said a Baltimore County man driving erratically assaulted an officer during a traffic stop then carjacked someone and ran away. He was arrested and has been charged with 19 crimes.
