Report: Towson Gynecologist Surrenders Medical License

John Yacoub's license has been suspended since Oct. 8.

John Yacoub, the Towson gynecologist accused of improperly providing drugs to patients, surrendered his medical license to regulators on Monday, according to The Baltimore Sun.

The Maryland Board of Physicians suspended his license on Oct. 8 after an investigation determined "that the public health, safety or welfare imperatively requires emergency action."

Yacoub, who practiced at Greater Baltimore Medical Center, was reported to the board after an employee at a local hospital reported him for failing to adhere to rules regarding the procurement, storage and dispensation of drugs.

He was also accused of taking photos of patients’ genitalia with his cellphone, but The Sun reports that was not a factor in Yacoub handing over his license.
